Other Kittens/Autres Chatons

We've just been to visit Tora's kittens with Lady White Pepita von Wernerwald, at our sister-cattery, Cité du Soleil - a British Blue boy, a Cream Scottish Fold Boy and a White Fold girl, masking Blue. Both Folds look to be double. Just look at these adorable little teddy-bears!
Nous rentrons de visiter notre chatterie-soeur, Cité du Soleil (voir lien sur site principal) pour voir les bébés de Tora et de Lady White Pepita von Wernerwald - un British Bleu, un Fold Crème et une Fold Blanche, masquant le Bleu. Les deux Fold ont l'air d'avoir le double pli!

News of Kittens/Nouvelles des chatons

Nefret being weighed yesterday, and in my mother's hands; Ramses (with Emerson in the background) weighing up the strange upright creature who appears periodically and makes ecstatic noises as she disturbs them for inspection etc!
Nefret dans la balance hier, et entre les mains de ma mère; Ramses (Emerson à l'arrière-plan) qui contemple l'étrange créature qui apparaît plusieurs fois par semaine, pour les déranger!

Kittens/Chatons

Emerson (Lilac), Ramses (Cream Tabby), Nefret (Blue Tabby), taken today. It looks as if we have 1 Fold (female) and two British (male), but it's early days still!
Emerson, Ramse, nefret. On dirait 1 Fold (femelle) et 2 British (mâles), mais il est encore trop tôt pour en être sûr.

Babies

Here they are today - still a bit fuzzy, the little wrigglers - but recognisable! Left to right: Emerson (Lilac male), Ramses (Cream Tabby male), Nefret, (Blue Tabby female). We are hoping that Nefret will be a Fold like her handsome sire, but whatever the shape of her little ears, she will stay here with us!

Les voici aujourd'hui - toujours un peu flous, les petits bougeaillons - mais connaissables! De gauche à droite: Emerson (mâle Lilac), Ramses (mâle Cream tabby), Nefret (femelle, Blue Tabby). Nous espérons que la dernière sera Fold comme son beau papa, mais elle restera avec nous quelle que soit la forme de ses petites oreilles!

Tora!

Our boy distinguished himself at a show in Italy this last weekend: he completed his last title, and is now officially European GRAND Champion. Not content with that, he obtained Best in Variety, Best in Show, and Best of Best! He was tied with a Norwegian Forest for the Best Supreme, so they drew lots, and the other cat won - that's life! We are so very proud of him! Unfortunately, we were unable to stay for the second day of the show, when he might have done even better, because I was ill all night on the Saturday. The luck of the game.
The kittens are doing very well, and I hope soon to have some photos of them that are not fuzzy!

Notre garçon s'est distingué à une expo en Italie ce dernier weekend: il a non seulement complété son dernier titre, devenant ainsi GRAND Champion d'Europe (2 mois et demie avant son deuxième anniversaire), il s'est payé également Best Variété, Best in Show, et Best of Best! Pour le Best Suprême, il était ex aequo avec un Forêt de Norvège - on a tiré au sort, et c'est l'autre qui a gagné - c'est la vie! Nous sommes très très fières de notre garçon. Nous n'avpns malheureusement pas pu rester pour le deuxième jour de l'expo, car j'ai été malade la nuit du samedi. Pas de chance, mais l'essentiel a été accompli!
Les chatons se portent très bien, et j'espère bientôt en avoir des photos qui se soient pas floues!

Branwen's babies

Here they are, the cute fubsy little things! They are doing well on their third day, and Branwen is showing herself to be an exemplary mother!

Les voici, nos nouveaux petits bouts! Ils se portent très bien, et Branwen est une mère exemplaire!

Former Kittens/Anciens pensionnaires

We've not only visited Bonnie Charlie (son of Bea and of World Champion Vaïk de Bastet de Nacrisan, nephew and lookalike of Denzil), but received news of Rob McFeegle (aka Azrael) in his new home. Here are some photos:
Nous avons rendu visite à Bonnie Charlie (fils de Beatrice et de Ch.Monde Vaïk de Bastet de Nacrisan, neveu et sosie de Denzil), et nous avons aussi reçu des nouvelles et des photos de Rob McFeegle, dit Azrael. Les voici (Nicole, est-ce que Rob vous rappelle quelqu'un? Pas le même dessein, mais... :D ):

Audrey's baby

The little Chocolate Tabby died during the night, aged three and a half weeks.
Branwen and her kittens are well and comfortable this morning.

Le petit Chocolat Tabby est mort pendant la nuit, âgé de trois semaines et demie.
Branwen et ses chatons ont bien passé la nuit, et sont tranquilles et confortables.

3Kittens/Chatons (Branwen x Tora)

Here she is, bless her, just before giving birth to her kittens tonight, 3/4 April. She had a difficult time, bless her, with four breeches out of five. Two unfortunately, didn't make it - a Black girl and a Cream boy. They were stuck, head shoulders and forepaws inside, the rest of the body dangling.
The first, a bouncing Lilac boy, had a bit of a struggle, as the placenta was trying to come out with him, but he made it, and immediately headed for the milk bar. I had to take Branny to the duty vet, 17 km away, with the second , and he removed the dead kitten with some difficulty - then gave Branny a shot of oxytocin. She very soon gave birth to a live Cream boy. Nothing happened for some time, and the vet sent me home, assuring me that all would be well, and that the remaining two might take the rest of the night to emerge, but there were 9 chances out of ten that there would be no more problems.
We got the tenth chance.
At midnight, another breech, but who struggled into the world eventually. The last one, the other Cream boy, finally slid out, dead, while I was phoning the vet to tell him that we were reliving the drama of the second kitten.
Poor Branny is exhausted, but she's lying flat out in the breeding pen, under the infra red lamp, with her three little survivors snuggling up to the milk bar. I think the smallest one is female, either Blue Tabby or Blue Torbie.
Audrey's little Chocolate Tabby boy is having a bit of a relapse, and needs a lot of care at the moment. He's such a little fighter, he deserves to make it!

Notre chère Branwen a finalement 3 beaux chatons, après une mise-bas difficile (4 sièges sur 5 chatons) Après un beau Lilac, qui a eu quelque peine à sortir, on a dû aller chez le vétérinaire pour qu'il fasse sortir un pauvre chaton coincé, avec la tête, les épaules et les pattes avant dedans. Il a fait une injection d'oxytocin, et Branwen a fait un mâle Crème Tabby. Ensuite, il m'a renvoyée à la maison, en disant qu'il y avait certainement encore deux, mais que cela pourrait durer jusqu'au matin. Il m'a assurée qu'il y avait 9 chances sur 10 que tout se déroulerait parfaitement - mais on a eu la dixième chance! A minuit, une petite fille (Bleue Tabby ou Bleue Torbie) est arrivée péniblement, aussi à reculons, et finalement, un Crème, le même scénario que le deuxième, bloqué de la même façon. J'ai finalement réussi à le dégager, mais il était mort, malheureusement.
Les trois petits survivants semblent bien aller. Branny est très fatiguée, bien sûr, mais elle est couchée calmement, et laisse têter ses bébés.
